Who we are. Who we were. And who we will become.
At this crossroad of identity - graduating from having the world of education as a constant and discovering my voice as an artist - the lines of "were," "are," and "will be" have become increasingly complex and intangible. This series of work is an exploration of self through the creation and destruction of memory.
These paintings are developed through spontaneous action of instinctive emotion and thought, countered by highly considered elements of stitching and collage. The evolution of was, is, and will be are woven together to form elements evocative of a tapestry. Through exploration of personal memories and experiences, intertwined with fresh thoughts and emotions, I investigate who I was, am, and might become. |
